Program DateSpain

May 21 - June 20, 2012

Departure date: May 20

What You Will Learn

Business has been changed drastically by the advent of technology and globalization. The business study abroad program offers students the opportunity to study international business in an international setting; but it also allows students to get a feel for several cultures. The program consists of business, historical, and cultural visits.

The City

Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain in both size and population. It is also the capital of Catalonia, 1 of the 17 Autonomous Communities that make up Spain.   There are two official languages spoken in Barcelona: Catalan, generally spoken in all of Catalonia, and Castillian Spanish. The city of Barcelona has a population of 1.5 million, but this number spirals to more than 4 million if the outlying areas are also included.   Barcelona is recognized as a global city because of its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts, and international trade.  Barcelona is a major economic center with one of Europe's principal Mediterranean ports, and Barcelona International Airport is the second largest in Spain after the Madrid-Barajas Airport (handles about 30 million passengers per year). Barcelona is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination and has a rich cultural heritage.
