Takeover Days: Friday and Saturday, July 28 - 29, 2017

"I am a small town kid from a border town in the Rio Grande Valley. Leaving the valley is a big accomplishment many of us do not get, but studying abroad is an even bigger opportunity. I want to expand my horizons and see what the world has to offer me."

Krista Pollett

Program: Texas State in Chester, England

Classification: Graduate

Major: Public History

Takeover Days: Tuesday and Wednesday, July 11 - 12, 2017

Krista Pollett

"I decided to study abroad because this program was tailored for Public History graduate students, and I wanted to take these classes during the summer to have more time to focus on my thesis that I'll start writing this fall. The opportunity to study under Dr. Patricia Denton abroad for a second time was too enticing to not attend this program. I also wanted another opportunity to go back to Chester and do things that I did not do the first time I studied abroad as an undergrad; I feel like I get to change and enhance my first experience by going again. These personal and academic reasons for my involvement, as well as countless other reasons, are the catalysts that demanded I study abroad. I intend to make the most out of this program by connecting with the other students and professors, making professional connections at our excursions, and deciding upon one topic to focus on for a thesis for the rest of my academic career at Texas State University."

Ariel Roberson

Program: Texas State in Florence and the Amalfi Coast, Italy

Classification: Senior

"I decided to study abroad for my last semester of my undergraduate education because I needed my last two language credits for graduation, and I thought what better way to learn Italian than to immerse myself in the country itself! ...I'm so grateful for this opportunity to learn about Italian life and culture while experiencing it for myself."

Close McCurdy

Minor: Spanish

Takeover Days: Thursday and Sunday, June 15 and 18, 2017

Close McCurdy

"Ever since I can remember, I have had a desire to travel the world. Last summer I backpacked through Europe, and instead of quenching my thirst for travel, it made it even stronger. Since I’m a Spanish minor who had never been to Mexico, I was desperate to go this summer. When I discovered the faculty-led program, I jumped on it. I was the very first applicant! Now in Mexico, I’m interning at a dialysis clinic, taking a cultural class, living with a host family, and going on the most awesome weekend trips!"
